The Courses

The competitive long route will be about 110 km long. It’s flat, but the wind will challenge you. The pre-race expo, the start, finish and post-race festivities will take place at the historic Takakquartier and take on a course through the tranquil countryside outside the city. The course shown is not the final route but provides a good idea what to expect. The final course will be revealed as soon as possible.

The non-competitive medium route will offer the same course safety, aid stations and fun, but on a recreational 60 km loop.

Long Route – 111 km / 585 m+

Medium Route – 69.2 km / 338 m+

About Bremen

The city of Bremen is located in Northern Germany, just over an hour from Hamburg and just over two from the Netherlands. It’s famously associated with the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale about the “Bremen Town Musicians” — a donkey, a dog, a cat, and a rooster who embark on a journey to the city. There’s a well-known statue in Bremen commemorating these characters, which has become one of the city’s most iconic symbols. It’s located within the beautifully preserved medieval city center.

Bremen was a member of the Hanseatic League, a powerful economic and defensive alliance of merchant guilds and market towns in Northern Europe from the late Middle Ages. This heritage still shapes Bremen’s economy and culture. Bremen is a large city with many facets – history, tradition, science, nature and culture – which combine to create an ever-fascinating experience.

Today, Bremen also excels for its cycling culture, with miles of bike lanes and a vibrant community of cyclists. Participants and spectators alike have the opportunity to explore Bremen’s rich history, cultural landmarks, and renowned hospitality, making GFNY Bremen not just a race, but a complete cycling experience.
